Keep an I on our week – Creeping Virginia edition

  3. Social Media’s Importance

This years Tech Rich List retains its popularity,  and there is also an update to  the Nominet proposals concerning the .uk namespace (2nd class 2nd level 2nd consultation). They have revealed that they received just over 300 responses to the consultation  (that represents 1 for every 33,500 domain names in use!)

Tesco announced a couple of weeks ago their tablet the Hudl which amongst other features has a “T” button for all your Tesco services including of course Blinkbox for film and music downloads.

It’s a 7” Android competitively priced at £119 (or £60 with Clubcard vouchers) and it will be easy to pick up and has all the basic features as well as coming in 4 different colours. It’s made by  Archos. Allegedly Tesco sold 35,000 in the first couple of days and it will be interesting to see how it fares, initially during and subsequently after the spendfest season. We doubt Asda, Sainsburys and Morrisons will follow suit!

Apple are allegedly due to announce their latest iPad offerings on October 22nd so the invites will likely go out next week. We’ll keep you informed!

We’ll leave you with the Hudl unboxing video – we’re slightly surprised there isn’t a heavier Tesco branding element to the name but having said that Hudl is not bad and does have four letters (like iPad & Fire but one less than Nexus against which some say it struggles!)
