As widely rumoured Apple yesterday sent out invitations for their media event to be held at their Cupertino complex next Tuesday.
The obvious conclusion from the invite is that some more colourful iPhones are on the way! At least 7 if we are to accept the invitational clue!
Most seem to think that the announcements will consist of:
- iPhone 5 new features – probably the iPhone 5S with per Macrumors “… upgrades, including a fingerprint scanner and an improved rear camera with dual-LED flash and a wider aperture. As for internal improvements, the iPhone 5S will move to a more powerful A7 chip and possibly include an increase in maximum storage capacity to 128 GB.” Additional colours gold champagne and graphite in addition to the standard black and white are also expected.
- iPhone5 low cost version – probably the iPhone 5C with again as per Macrumors “…expected to essentially be an iPhone 5 wrapped in the new plastic shell. Those specs would include an A6 chip, 4-inch Retina display, 8-megapixel rear camera, and 1.2-megapixel front camera.” The plastic shell covers are likely to be blue, green, red, yellow and white.
- Apple TV set top box – upgrades are also likely as volume shipments from China have recently been spotted
Interestingly there is a separate second event in China on 9/11 which we and Sina Tech amongst others are guessing will concentrate on the iPhoine 5C plus no doubt other market specific features, partners, ventures etc etc
At this stage we and most others don’t yet know if they will livestream of the Cupertino event, with the associated inherent risks, or perhaps Apple will simply put up a replay after the event. There will be numerous live blogging attendees and we will link to our preferred sources come next Tuesday.
